The department involves itself in minor oral surgical procedures like extraction of teeth, surgical removal of impacted teeth, biopsies under local anaesthesia being performed by postgraduates and supervised by experienced staff.
Reconstructive microvascular surgery is also being performed for ablative defects of soft and hard tissues of the maxillofacial region using surgical microscopes which is the first of its kind in a dental college set up. The benefit of multidisciplinary approach to Oral Cancer patients with the team comprising of medical and surgical oncologists and radiotherapistsis rendered in collaboration with RAI-CBCC oncology centre which is available within the college premises. This benefits the patients comprehensively both medically and surgically. These procedures are being performed and assisted by both experienced staff and enthusiastic postgraduates who make this department stand out and excel in the form of training and education for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery when compared to any other college in the country.
